![]() Like many old school CRPGs and classic games in general, they should be treated as something to learn, not pick up play on a whim. If you liked Fallout 1 you will love fallout 2 the game gets great when the car is used and I hope that a new game that combines fallout 1 and 2 into a third person shooter similar to 3 would be fabulous but a man can dream. It suffers from the old game issue of the player needs to try and test 100 different ideas until it works. It is not a bad game and I can defiantly see it increase in score from informing you your options you have in quests and stories overall could give this game a ton of points. Now I did use the restoration mod (hence why I include the DLC) I cannot give it higher than a 7 because it suffers from poor quest pathing, frustrating encounters, and overall a annoying difficulty curve. But fallout 2 still falls into some of those pit falls but few points really brings it up for me. It had issues, annoyances, and stale bread moments. If you liked Fallout 1 or NV, you'll probably love this game too.Ĥ9h 12m PlayedSo I gave the fallout 1 game a 5/10. Overall, Fallout 2 is great! I still don't think it's as good as everyone says (some people say it's better than NV!) but it's still a pioneer and a very fun (but flawed) game overall. The final boss is also a cool idea that I've seen executed better in other games, but I have to give Fallout/Fallout 2 props for pioneering this type of boss fight. The final few areas especially really ramp up the stakes and feel imposing, like you're just a small cog in a huge machine. This is the first Fallout where it feels like player choice has a real impact on the world, and the things about the game that do work work really well. Despite this, it's very clear that the goot outweighs the bad. The game's pacing also seems weird there was a stretch of time near the end of the game where I just got bored for a bit. There are a lot of great NPCs, but also a lot of forgettable ones. The variety of weapons and playstyles is cool in theory, but the combat system is weird and unreliable. The world is massive and varied, but it feels like you're running back and forth between the same few environments all the time. It is a wonderful yet frustrating game that often comes very close to perfection but stops right before reaching it. 33h 48m PlayedWhat a game! Fallout 2 is another case of a game being held back by its engine, bursting at the seams with potential. ![]()
